Trek El Palmar

TREKKING 2 DAYS

Day 1

In Sucre, go to Condor Trekkers, a non profit organisation, and ask them to take you there. It is not very well known but the village El Palmar start to welcome people and to offer local visits for 2-3 days now! Thanks to its non populated area you'll like for sure the quiet place of the palm trees.

During this trek you will leave around 5am in the morning by minibus towards Le Palmar. It’s about 5 hours by car from Sucre, that’s why the start is very early. Once arrived at Palmar the driver will stop so that you can buy your tickets on the natural site. You need to count 100bs for foreigners. Then you’ll have time to lunch at the village before embarking on the tour of the highest palm grove in the world at 3900m altitude! Israel, who is one of the only local guides in the village, will take you on these two days to discover the Palmar. Waterfalls, animals and plants will be with you all day.

At the end of the first day you will return to the village for the night. The best thing is to sleep in a tent which costs 20 bs. If you want to use the kitchen built for the visitors, you can use it too. You'll have to add 30 bs. You can also create a fire place and look at the stars and drink singani in the same time! I'll tell you more about Singani, the favorite bolivian drink, in other post. Stay tuned :)

Day 2

The next day you'll start the by admiring the sunrise at the top of a small mountain. Israel will tell you about legends about condors and palm trees of the Palmar. You'll continue the hike in the morning and in the late afternoon return to Sucre.

You'll have quite some time to spend in the bus, bring your music and share it with the driver and the guide and sing with them with their music too!

Feel free to ask me for Israel’s contact or for any other information that you would like to know.
