Welcome to Guanacaste, ma favorite region of Costa Rica!
It is in the vast estate of Tierra Madre, an eco-lodge in La Cruz on the border with Nicaragua, that you will have the opportunity to walk through this lush jungle.
Tierra Madre is a project created by Adrien, Fahimeh and François. All very charming, they will surprise you with their way of life. The best is to stay on site at least 4 days because the road is long to get there but it’s worth it I assure you!
Listen to their adventure and why they left everything on the Belgians at the end of the world.
You will sleep in wooden huts on stilts with a splendid view of Nicaragua’s jungle and Ometepe volcano. And yes, Nicaragua is very close!
It is better to get there by 4X4 to Tierra Madre because the road is not paved and has many holes.
For the 3 or 4 days you will be there, take a day with Adrien to explain their permaculture and planting project. Ask Fahimeh to make you her quiches and explain how she creates her soaps because yes in the huts the soap is homemade! And don’t forget François, Adrien’s cousin. He will be happy to take you on a tour of the jungle to show you the huge estate they own. You’ll get to know her family too, the kids are lovely.
They will serve you to eat with products that they pick by themselves in their field. Everything that is consumed comes from Tierra Madre. You’re going to enjoy yourself.
When you walk through the jungle if you don’t have boots, do -lend them to you by Adrien and Fahimeh. They have some for visitors. You will see that they are very useful because in the tall grass there are snakes.
You will see capuchins and howling monkeys in the trees. And you’ll get to know some cows. Incredible they were all posing for the photo!
Something important to know: few electricity and no internet while there so you'll get an amazing experience far from the crowd and social network.
Put your boots on and let's go!
Ask to volunteer there, they need help and you'll learn a lot about life.
