Today it is France that we will discover and especially the Vexin! Do you know that? This is where I spent my entire childhood. Le Vexin is a regional nature park in France. It gathers several very charming villages. The heart of this natural park is Théméricourt.
To Château de Théméricourt, It is the ex-dictator of Haiti who would have lived there for a little less than ten years.
Amazing isn’t it?
This is what the castle looks like today. The castle has a park where it is possible to stroll and stroll -Fucking. Often sheep are there to graze the grass.
Does the Petillon tradition mean anything to you?
It is a tradition which is lost but which persists in Théméricourt and in other villages of the Vexin.
The first weekend of September is celebrated the Pétillon. The children of the village gather to decorate a tree branch previously chosen with the mayor. You can decorate it with all kinds of things like ribbons, balls and garlands.
Then in the evening around 8pm, at nightfall, the tour of the village begins. Everyone gathered with lanterns of all colors, ready to leave to tour the village. The majorettes or the batucada accompany us every year to brighten up this tour with music! We return to the starting point, that is to say, the restaurant of the village, today called the Pétillon. We take off the old branch and replace it with the new one. Usually, a youth from the village volunteers to climb up the ladder and hang the branch. We end up burning the old branch and we meet on a green space to meet there and have a drink.
Previously, the Petillon was still called “cork. ” A stopper would be a sign that a person puts on a house to show that he is drinking wine from a pitcher . “The Pétillon corresponded to the bouquet of persistent greenery hung in honour of Bacchus, god of wine, on the facades of taverns. These same branches of greenery can also be found at the doors of cabarets during medieval times. Le Pétillon is therefore a sign designating the place where you can drink. "
